September 28, 2014 – The figures did not change much at the weekend even though sales for leading film at the box office was impressive. The Maze Runner which was number 1 last week was displaced from the top spot by The Equalizer which returned $35 million to Sony Pictures on the first day at the big screen.
‘The Equalizer’ Rakes in $35m to Displace ‘Maze Runner’ in Box Office Sales
The Maze Runner managed to hang up to the number two spot when sales fell to $17.5 million in box office sales. In number 3 is The Boxtrolls, another new film just hitting the box office. Put together by Focus pictures, the film made $17.250 million from 3, 464 film viewing centres in the US to maintain number 3 on the chart.
This is Where I Leave You, which was number 3 last week was pushed to number 4 when it made just $7.010 million from 2, 868 viewing centres in the US. Dolphin Tale 2 came behind in number 5 with $4.835 million in box office sales.
Other new films that made it to the box office during the week include The Song, Mas Negro Que La Noche, Pride, Days and Nights and Advanced Style.
