August 2, 2014 – Dr. Kenth Brantley one of two Americans infected with Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) in Liberia has been evacuated via a special flight to the United States. He is now being treated at a special isolation centre at Emory University Hospital, Atlanta.

Brantley is one of the two Americans taking care of Ebola patients in Liberia that were infected in the process. The other American is Nancy Writebol. It is not clear why Writebol was not flown into the US with the medical doctor. EVD has caused several deaths in four West African countries of Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea and recently Nigeria.

So far the cumulative number of cases attributed to EVD in the four countries stands at 1 323 while 729 deaths have been recorded.
