Four Ebola Patients Discharged from Isolation in Lagos, Nigeria

August 18, 2014 – The Minister of Health Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu has announced that four additional confirmed cases of Ebola Virus Disease(EVD) patients who have been managed successfully and are now disease free and have been subsequently discharged home today.

According to him, they include two male medical doctors and one female nurse.

The three participated in the treatment of the index case involving the Liberian-American, Patrick Sawyer while the fourth person was a female patient that was on admission at the time Sawyer was admitted to First Consultant Hospital.

“This brings to five the total number of patients diagnosed with Ebola Virus Disease who have now been discharged from hospital”, the minister said.

An infected doctor was discharged on Saturday after showing no symptoms of the disease after 21 days in isolation.
