Another Ebola Patient Due for Discharge from Lagos Isolation Centre

August 25, 2014 – Minister of Health, Professor Onyebuchi Chukwu has announced that one of the patients that tested positive to the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) has been certified free of Ebola and is due for discharge from the isolation centre in Yaba, Lagos.

A press statement issued by Special Assistant to the Minister, Mr.Dan Nwomeh, the minister said that total number of confirmed cases including the index case is now 13.

He said that the 14th case initially announced as positive turned out to be negative after an extensive test on the individual concerned.

“Total number of deaths due to EVD (including the index case) remains 5.Total number of EVD patients treated and discharged is 5.Total number of EVD patients currently under treatment in the isolation ward is now 3. One of the 3 persons currently under treatment is for imminent discharge after necessary protocols”, the Minister said.
