August 19, 2014 – Not less than 1, 229 people have been infected with Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) in four West African Countries of Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea, the World Health Organisation (WHO) has said.

In the latest statement published by WHO, total number of people infected with the disease across West African countries currently stand at 2,240.
According to the report, 394 people have died out of 543 people infected with the disease in Guinea. In Liberia 466 people have died of the disease out of 834 people who are infected.
Fifteen cases have been reported in Nigeria while 4 people infected with the disease have died.
Eight hundred and forty-eight cases have been recorded in Sierra Leone while 365 people have been sent to their early grave, WHO has said.
