War on Boko Haram: Nigeria, Cameroon, Others to Deploy 2,800 Soldiers

Nigeria and neighbouring countries of Cameroon, Chad and Niger have signed an agreement to jointly deploy at least 2,800 soldiers to the West African sub region to fight against the radical Islamic sect, Boko Haram.

Report monitored on the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) said defence ministers of the nations agreed to delegate 700 troops each to make up the combat squad and boost what is already on ground in the area.

Speaking to the BBC, Niger’s Defence Minister, Karidio Mahamadou described the insurgency as a curse which the nations have jointly determined to eradicate the threat of Boko Haram in the region.

The Boko Haram insurgents has killed and maimed over 1000 people in Nigeria with couple of incursion in Cameroun.
