The Lagos State Government is making preparation to mark 7th year of its Tree Planting Campaign on Monday, 14th July 2014 as part of its effort to mitigate the impact of climate change and encourage planting of trees in the state.

Tagged “Life is better with trees”, the exercise is aimed at further emphasizing the importance of trees to the survival of human life and its benefit to the environment.
The State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola SAN is expected to lead the planting session at Cardinal Olubunmi Okogie Road, Sangotedo, Eti-Osa East Local Council Development Area where he would flag off the tree planting campaign.

The campaign which will hold simultaneously in six other ceremonial sites will have the Speaker of Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Adeyemi Ikuforiji leading the tree planting exercise at Apple Junction, Amuwo Odofin LCDA and the Deputy Governor, Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire at Gbadaga General Hospital, Kosofe Local Government Area.

The First Lady, Dame Emmanuella Abimbola Fashola will be at King’s College Annex Victoria Island, while the Secretary to the State Government, Dr (Mrs) Oluranti Adebule will be at Beckley Road, Ojokoro. The Chief Judge of Lagos, Justice Ayotunde Phillips will hold forte at Ikeja High Court,Ikeja.

The Tree planting exercise will also be holding in all 57 LGAs and LCDAs including military formations, institutions, industries, schools etc.

The Lagos State Government enjoins all and sundry to once again team up with it in the crusade to achieve a sustainable environment by joining the tree planting campaign at the nearest venue and in their various homes, offices and companies.
