The Central Bank of Nigeria has warned Nigerians to be wary of a group of individuals who are collecting money from unsuspecting Nigerians under the guise of recruiting for the bank.
CBN Warns Nigerians against Ongoing Fraudulent Recruitment Exercise
In a statement, the CBN noted that it has received reports that applicants are also being told to pay fees in other to be shortlisted when the bank is really not recruiting.
It called on those who have already fallen prey to the scheme to report to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC) for appropriate action.
“It has come to the attention of the Central Bank of Nigeria that there is a job advert circulating in the social media informing the public that the Bank is conducting its 2014 General Recruitment Exercise.
“Reports from some quarters also stated that applicants are asked to pay a fee to be shortlisted for the recruitment exercise. The General Public should note that the Central Bank of Nigeria is not currently conducting any General Recruitment Exercise and does not receive money directly or through any representative on its behalf for the purpose of job recruitment.
“The General Public is therefore advised to disregard any such message(s) received, as they are false and if anyone approaches you in this regard and demands financial inducement, kindly report to the Nigeria Police or the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), accordingly”, the statement said.
