The Organization of Isoko Persons who are Physically Disabled (OIPPD) has commended the Delta State Government for its unwavering commitment to improving their lives.
Physically Challenged People Thumbs-up Uduaghan for Improving Lives
President-General of the organization, Comrade Simeon Ikuta who made the remarks said the Governor of Delta State, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan had through its comprehensive welfare programme encouraged the physically challenged to use their God-given talents to better their lots and those of their families.
Comrade Ikuta emphasized that no government in the world, no matter how buoyant, can satisfy all the needs of its people and therefore called on all well -meaning individuals and organizations to complement the State Government especially in the area of support to the physically challenged in the society.
Ikuta announced that a mass rally/seminar with the theme “Make Persons With Disability to Work will hold on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at Opute Hall Ozoro, in Isoko North Local Government Area of the State at 12 p.m.
He said that the rally which is being organized by the organization of Isoko Persons who are Physically Disabled, is aimed at sensitising the public on the need to key into the Delta State Government’s welfare programme for the physically challenged persons among other issues.
Comrade Ikuta said that the State First Lady, Deaconess Roli Nere Uduaghan is expected to be the Mother of the Day while Arch. Joseph Ogeh, Commissioner, DESOPADEC will chair the occasion.
Speaking with journalists at the temporary Secretariat, Ozoro, the President-General of the Association explained that the seminar will educate and sensitise disable persons in the area on boundless opportunities provided by the State government to better their lot as ability is disability, stressing that they are determined to not only to be self-employed but also employers of labour.
According to him, the occasion which will be graced by the Secretary to the State Government, Comrade Ovuozourie Macaulay, member representing Isoko in the House of Representative, Hon. Leo Okuwe Ogor among others. He said the multi-talented artist, Akudo Ambrose will entertain guests during the show.
He therefore called all illustrious sons and daughters of Isoko Ethnic Nationality to grace the occasion which he described as the first of its kind in the area.
