NCC Working on ICT Application for Production, Distribution of Movies

June 24, 2014 – The Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC) says it is currently working on an Information Communication Technology (ICT) that will enable it to produce, store and distribute Nigerian movies.

Director Public Affairs, Mr. Tony Ojobo who made the revelation said the initiative was a product of ongoing collaboration between the NCC and Nollywood.
He said the NCC also plans to set up a multimedia centre of excellence adding that the centre will be equipped with editing kits and film production facilities for digital video, animation for entertainment, advertising, multimedia cartography and multimedia communications.

“We recognise that there is limited application of ICT technologies in our movie industry today, especially in production and storing materials. Just recently some professionals from Georgia University Technology was in Lagos to deliver training on master classics, class session on film business and production techniques in furtherance of this important partnership”, he said, adding that the collaboration had also led to the production of a movie titled “Love on the Run”.
