Minister of Police Affairs, Alhaji Abdul Jelili Adesiyan, has described the landslide victory of the former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose, during the gubernatorial election held in the state on Saturday, as a boost for the Nigeria’s democratic process.

In a congratulatory message signed by his Chief Press Secretary Mr. Wale Akinola, the minister said the outcome of the election actually showed that the PDP was loved by the people of the state, adding that the process and conduct of the election was not only free and fair but devoid of any electoral violence or malpractices.

“I want to first of all congratulate the former governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, who won last Saturday election with landslide victory. The victory is a boost for our democracy because the people’s votes actually counted as they were allowed to cast their votes for their preferred candidate.

“Ayodele Fayose has proven to the world through the outcome of Saturday election that he is a man of the people and a grassroots politician to the core. The victory is a testimony that he impacted positively on people’s lives in many ways when he was the governor of the state.

“I want to also salute the courage of the people of Ekiti State for rejecting impositors, deceitful and tyrant government. Everybody knows that APC thrives on propaganda and deceit but now an end has come to their politics of agony, bitterness and slavery in Ekiti State.

“With Fayose’s victory, it is clear that people of the state did not vote for Fayemi in 2007 but he came to power through judicial fraud and people have made statement with their votes and there is no ambiguity in their statement.

“This is a warning signal for Aregbesola whose draconian policies have brought untold hardship to people of the state, to start preparing for his exit from the government house before the D-day when he will be shown the way by the good people of Osun State. The people of the state are languishing in abject poverty because his government is characterized by gross negligence of people’s welfare, non payment of salaries and wages and financial recklessness. People are prepared to reject his abusive empowerment programmes that have subjected our graduates to slaves under the guise of Osun Youth Empowerment Scheme.

“I want to appeal to good people of Osun State to replicate what happened in Ekiti on Saturday during the gubernatorial election come August 9, by voting for PDP gubernatorial candidate, Senator Iyiola Omisore, so as to deliver them from the shackles of poverty, slavery and joblessness which are the hallmarks of the APC.”

Adesiyan, however, saluted the courage of governor Kayode Fayemi for congratulating the governor elect, Ayodele Fayose, adding that what he did has shown that he was politically matured.
