Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) Mr. Ayodele Peter Fayose on Saturday defeated the incumbent Governor of Ekiti State and candidate of the All Progressive Congress(APC) Mr. Kayode Fayemi to emerge the Governor-Elect of Ekiti State.

The results as released in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital by returning officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Professor Uzomah Asuzu, shows that the incumbent governor was second in the election while candidate of Labour Party, Mr. Opeyemi Bamidele came third.
PDP – 203,090
APC – 120,433
LP – 18,135.
We gathered that the PDP candidate won in all the 16 local government areas of Ekiti State.
There are 733 766 registered voters in Ekiti State. According to INEC, 732, 166 permanent voters cards used for the exercise were ready for collection for the election but only 476, 870 permanent voters card were collected by the electorates, while accredited voters stood at 369 257.
“Having satisfied the required laws and having secured the highest number of votes cast, Ayodele Peter Fayose is hereby declared winner of the election by me Professor Uzomah Asuzu…”
The electoral commission has been commended by monitoring groups for conducting a free and fair election.
