Nigeria’s singing sensation, DavidO on Sunday emerged Best African Acts at the BET Awards, which held at the Nokia Centre in Los Angeles. He defeated the likes of Tiwa Savage also from Nigeria, South Africa’s Mafikizolo, Ghana’s Sarkodie, Tanzania’s Diamond Platnumz and Togo’s Toofan to win the grand African prize at the 2014 BET Awards.

Another Nigerian star, Chiwetel Ejiofor who stared in the film Twelve Years a Slave won Best Actor while the young Kenyan lady, Lupida Nyong’o was crowned Best Actress at the event. Her rivals in that category included Angela Basset, Kerry Washington, Oprah Winfrey among others.

The film ‘Twelve Years of a Slave’ also won the ‘Best Movie‘ award.
Rave of the moment, Pharrell Williams was crowned Best Male R&B/Pop Artistes, while his video got ‘Video of the Year‘.

The sweet couple, Jay Z and Beyonce won the ‘Best Collaboration‘ award for their performance on Bey’s ‘Drunk in love‘, while Jhene Aiko got the ‘Centric Award‘.
Chris Brown, Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj and Jennifer Hodson performed at the show, while and Nigeria’s Tiwa Savage performed a night earlier at the BET Experience concert.
