Residents of surrounding communities in Takwa Bay are now in danger following explosion that rocked the area at midnight Tuesday.

The fire incident, we gathered resulted from activities of vandals attempting to scoop Premium Motor Spirits(PMS) from a ruptured pipeline.

So far, no life has been lost. Spokesperson for the National Emergency Management Agency(NEMA), Mr. Ibrahim Farinloye told our correspondent that officials of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation$(NNPC), Atlas Cove base have been mobilized to the scene.

He said they are already working to put out the fire and that all the valves and supplies have so far been shut to prevent escalation of the inferno.

Hundreds of Nigerians were burnt alive at Atlas Cove few years back when they were attempting to siphon fuel from a ruptured pipeline in the area.
