Censors Board Approves 35 Films for Release in May, Beyond

The National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) has verified and approved 35 films for the month of May, 2014.

A statement signed by Acting Head, Corporate Affairs, Mr. Ceasar Kagho said 19 of the films were denominated in English Language, 8 in Yoruba language, 7 in Hausa language and 1in Bini Language.

He said only two films were classified “12”. They include Millennium Parents and Parents Guard”.

Fifteen others were classified “15”. They include Asepamo (Yoruba), Auren Bana(Hausa), Oyoyo Nwa (English), Omo Jayejaye (Yoruba), Bunayya (Hausa), The Great Omenuku (English), Scars of Evil (English), Owo Pension (Yoruba), Tsakani Na Dake (Hausa) and Night Nurse (English).

Eighteen others were classified “18”. They are Women’s Right (English), Osenamie (Bini), Akobi mi (Yoruba), Mata Da Kudi (Hausa), Native Fowl (English), Pains of Poverty (English), Igba Iwase (Yoruba) and Tarayya(Hausa).

Other moves approved for the month are Bankwana .Da. Masoyi (Hausa), My American Dream (English), Olabisi Oloyinbo (Yoruba), What a Pain (English), Fayo Yemi (Yoruba), Egg of Justice (English) and Itoro’s Tears (English).

Kagho said movies classified 16 have strong language, and rituals adding that those classified “18” have strong language, rituals, violence, imitable technique and prejudice while those rated 12 have imitable technique.
