In his sermon, Sheik Shakirudeen Mofeshaye who is the Special Assistant to Lagos State Governor on Islam stoked the conscience of political leaders to re- dedicate themselves to the service of humanity.
” I am asking you all, the past Presidents here, past Vice President , Ministers , Governors , whatever you may be, Allah is asking you has not been a time over you when you were nothing? Not known by anyone ? In your 50 years of age, 51 years ago where were you? You were nothing, you started from nothing. You are something today but you are still coming back to be nothing.
” You the Asiwaju of Lagos today , you Iya- Adini of Lagos today you started from being a drop of water dropped in a woman’s womb and God turned it to something else. Allah gave you opportunity to exist for a period of time . The question is what will you achieve in those number of years that you have sojourned on the surface of the earth”.
He admonished the leader to try and embrace good deeds by touching many lives like the departed Abibatu Mogagi, saying God gave them the opportunities to benefit humanity despite the fact that they were not the best in the various circles they emerged from.
He urged the politicians and leaders of the various groups to jettison vices of avarice that push them to acquire enormous wealth which Mofeshaye said amounts to vanity, saying death is the ultimate end for all mortals whether they like it or not.
