June 27, 2014 – At least six people were on Friday confirmed dead while four others sustained serious injuries in an accident that occurred on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
Six Killed in Multiple Crashes on Lagos – Ibadan Expressway
The crash, according to eye witness occurred at Kara Village, very close to Channels Crescent, Ogun State and it involved an Ibadan bound truck that attempted to veer-off a stationery truck which had broken down on the highway in top speed and lost control in the process.
We gathered that the truck plunged into vehicles on the side lane resulting in multiple accident.
Spokesman of the National Emergency Management Agency,(NEMA), Mr. Ibrahim Farinloye said the accident took place at 8:15AM. He said officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps(FRSC) responded promptly by rescuing the victims, administered first aid before evacuating them to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital(LUTH).
The incident engendered heavy traffic on Lagos-Ibadan expressway and Ogunnusi Road, Ojodu, Lagos, leaving most commuters stranded in various bus stops in the area.
