President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, his wife, Dame Patience Jonathan and former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo were among distinguished Nigerians that paid their last respect to the late former Governor of Lagos State, Sir Michael Otedola.

Otedola died May 5, 2014, he was 88. In his sermon at the occasion which had heavy presence of security forces, Chaplain of Marian Shrine, Lagos Catholic Diocese, Monsignor Philip Hoteyin called on the President to consolidate on the unity of Nigeria.
“Nigerians are everywhere, everywhere you visit Nigeria is regarded as the greatest. Let us remain one of the greatest country that we have always been,” he said.
He noted that Nigeria is always regarded as one family , stressing that all efforts must be geared towards keeping the country together as one.
The chaplain urged Nigerians not to forget that they remain visitors on planet earth.
“We all must be the way, the truth and the light in whatever we do. This is because we will all die but we don’t know when, how and where it will happened. That is why man must be very careful while on earth.”
Also present at the occasion was Governor of Lagos state, Mr. Babatunde Fashola and his wife, Abimbola, former governor of Ogun and Anambra state, Aremo Olusegun Osoba and Mr. Peter Obi and members of the Lagos State Executive Council, they include Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Olayinka Oladunjoye, Former Deputy Governor of Lagos state, Mrs. Sarah Sosan, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, former commissioner for Housing in Lagos, Mr. Dele Onabokun.
