Emelonye, Filmmaker Arrested with UK Crew for Aerial Shot of Lagos

Reputable filmmaker, Obi Emelonye, who shot Mirror Boy has been arrested. The director who made the announcement on his Facebook page said he was arrested by some officials of the Lagos State Television, Ikeja for taking aerial shots of Lagos around Shoprite with remote helicopters.

He said the officials are currently planning to put him in jail for attempting to film the area.

He said they want to put him in jail for making Lagos great. The filmmaker who described the onslaught as one of the challenges filmmakers are facing in trying to grow the industry said he has resigned his fate to God and allow him to take control.

“Just been arrested with my team from the UK by Lagos TV for taking aeriel shots of Lagos, around Shoprite Ikeja, using remote helicopters. As a media house, they should understand what we are trying to do. But they want to put me in jail for making Lagos great. I am resigned to my fate and allowed God to take control. Challenges we face in trying to grow the industry. Pray for me, pray for Nigeria”, he said on his Facebook page.
