Umar who spoke on Channels, following the bombings carried out by Boko Haram at Nyanya Bus Park in Abuja, said the actions and body language of those saddled with the task of securing Nigeria shows that they are not on top of the situation.

He alluded to recent attempted jail break in Abuja by terrorists, stressing that it makes no common sense to quarter terrorists very close to Aso Rock, the seat of power. According to him, Guantanamo Bay is far away from the White House in America, adding what the terrorist cell in Abuja is just to close for the comfort of the president.

He is suggesting that the officers who recommended that terrorist cell be situated close to the seat of the presidency be de-briefed.

According to him, most of those heading the various securities operatives don’t know their onions and that they are appointed simply because they are highly connected but that the time has come to put the right persons in the right places.

He said it is a misuse of terminology for the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar to put security operatives on red alert when the incident has already occurred. According to him, it is only when there are intelligence reports about potential attack on a target that security operatives are placed on red alert to ward off potential attack.

He alleged that the authorities will be surprised if the entire armed forces is rebased compared with what is obtained elsewhere. For him, most of the equipment in use by most of the armed forces are antiquated and not in tune with modern reality.

He advised the Nigerian authority to install close circuit television in each of the bus parks and employ security chiefs to watch out of for unusual activities and that Nigerians must also cultivate security habits by being inquisitive about the environment and by watching out for the unusual and reporting same to constituted authorities.
