The Lagos State Government said on Wednesday that Internally Generated Revenue( IGR) for the state is now a little over N20 billion monthly.

Chairman Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS), Mr. Tunde Fowler made the revelation while speaking at the annual ministerial press briefing in Lagos. He said the LIRS has continued to focus on efficient service delivery to tax payers, which he said has led to continuous growth in the number of tax payers in the state.

Fowler noted that voluntary tax compliance among residents of the state has assisted government in the implementation of developmental projects across the state even in the face of dwindling Federal Allocation.

In his remarks, Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Taxation and Revenue, Mr. Bola Shodipo said the state government will go after high profile individuals who have not fulfilled their tax obligations to the state in the coming months.

On Wharf landing, Shodipo said it is being streamlined in the state to ease the burden of haulage movers and eliminate arbitrary charges by each of the local governments.
