A number of Nigerian filmmakers are now in the United States of America for a 20-day training to brush up their skills in film production. They are training at the Colorado Film School, which is one of the top 20 film schools in the US.

Those taking part in the training are all beneficiary of the N3billion Film Intervention Fund put in place by President Goodluck Jonathan to develop and establish structures in the film industry, under Project Act. The training covers script writing, story structure, character development, writing dialogue, directing, eliciting reality behavior in performances, moving cameras and lighting.

Speaking on the training, President Directors Guild, Mr. Andy Amenechi said those undergoing the training will in due course make their skills available to other filmmakers through mentorship.
“If you want to compete in the international marketplace, you must have those standards. There’s no left, right or center about it. So we have decided to be on the path of international best practices so that we can compete in the marketplace.”
