Captain America, Shoves Oculus, Rio 2 Aside to Retain Top Spot

Book makers who would have anticipated an upward swing in sales at the Box Office this week must have been disappointed when sales tumbled drastically at the big screen.

However Divergent which was put together by Lions Gate walked its way into the top five spots after making $7.5 million from 3,110 theatres to make it to number 5 on the chart. At number 4 is Draft Day, a new film just hitting the big screen. A production of by Lions Gate Studios, the movie made $9.750 million after appearing in 2,781 viewing centres in the US to make it to the 4th position on the chart.

Oculus, which is also new on the scene walked its way to the 3rd position. Put together by Relativity Studios, Oculus, gleaned $12 million from 2,648 viewing centres in the US to make it to that spot on the chart. At number 2 is Rio 2, another new film just arriving on the big screen. The film rewarded Fox Studio with the sum $39 million after passing through 3,948 cinemas in the US to make it to the second spot on the chart.

But the most supported movie at the big screen during the week was Captain America: The Winter Soldier. That movie retained number one after making $41.398 from 3,938 viewing centres where it was exhibited to maintain that spot on the chart. Captain America: The Winter Soldier was put together with the sum of $170 million yet it was able to reward the producer with over $159 million in just two weeks at the box office.
