Minister of Police Affairs, Alhaji Abdul Jelili Adesiyan, has said that the statement credited to the Osun State Chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) about his recent comments on Aregbesola-led administration was nothing but an admission of a failed government.
The Minister said the APC’s statement was not only unfortunate but lacked any sense of logic.
In a statement issued in Abuja by his Chief Press Secretary, Wale Akinola, Adessiyan, emphasised that it was obvious and known to every right thinking citizen of the state that the ruling government has only succeeded in making sure that things did not work the way it should since Aregbesola came to power through judicial fraud in 2010.
“It is obvious that since Aregbesola came to power in 2010, so many things have been turned up side down. Like I have said previously that Aregbesola has failed the citizens of the state, I want to also re-echo it that his government has brought untold hardship to people of the state in many ways.
First of all, the education standard has fallen to its lowest ebb and his school re-classification has also brought chaos to the hitherto peaceful environment in all the schools across the state.
“Second, Aregbesola’s refusal to pay the workers’ salaries as and when due and by extension, his failure to pay the lecturers of the state owned tertiary institution is a deliberate attempt by the APC to punish the innocent workers and to inflict pain on them.
“Third, Aregbesola’s massive demolition of houses and shops under the guise of urban renewal, without providing alternative for the people is a sign that APC’s government is characterised by fraud and deceit,” The statement read in part.
Adesiyan further stated that, “PDP as a party is not only democratic but also transparent in its processes and conduct, it is APC that is only built on lies and propaganda and this is evident in all their conducts and processes.”
“What is the real blackmail and campaign of calumny than Aregbesola’s constant allegation of rigging against his perceived political opponents? It should also be re-empahsised here that we will resist all forms of his blackmail and propaganda because we know that APC is synonymous with propaganada.
“Why didn’t Osun APC address and explain to the whole world what their governor had in mind when he said he will destroy me and our party governorship candidate in the August 9 election, Senator Omisore?
“But rather than bury their head in shame for Aregbesola’s unguarded statement, the APC is only pursuing a mirage in its effort to attract people’s sympathy.
“It has come to a stage that the lies and propaganda of APC will no longer work because the people of Osun State have learnt their lesson in the last three and half year of Aregbesola’s administration and they have decided to take their destiny in their hands.”
The minister reiterated that he and other security agencies were only concerned about finding a lasting solution to the security challenges in the country, adding that safety of lives and property and stability of the country has been his hallmark since he assumed the office as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“As a Minister of Police Affairs, who is saddled with the responsibility of ensuring safety of lives and property of the entire citizenry, I will not be distracted by the politics of bitterness and acrimony of the APC and its antics ahead of the next gubernatorial election in the state.
“My major task now is to see that the security challenges in the country is nipped in the bud so that all the citizens across the country can sleep with their two eyes closed regardless of any distraction from the APC.”
