The Lagos chapter of the Nigeria Dental Association(NDA) has concluded plans to mark this year’s edition of World Oral Health Day, a global event which holds yearly on March 20th.

A statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Association, Dr. Lawal Bakare said the event serves to place the spotlight on issues surrounding the oral health, with an emphasis on providing information and services that help people of all ages enjoy the use of their mouths to the optimum.

Lawal said the theme of the World Oral Health Day 2014 is “Celebrating Healthy Smiles” and will be observed in over 75 countries worldwide.

Also speaking, Chairperson of NDA Lagos, Dr Opeyemi Okoisor said the association would be flagging off its activities to mark World Oral Health Day on Thursday March 20 at the Lagbaja field within the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja from 9am.

The Association is expected to launch its state-wide Dental Deals initiative, which involves members of the public receiving free and discounted treatment at public and private dental clinics across Lagos State from the 20th to the 30th of March, 2014.

Also to be launched are the association’s new website, www.ndalagos.org and a mobile health application named ChoraTM.

The event is expected to feature the Dean, Faculty of Dentistry, Lagos State University College of Medicine, LASUCOM, Prof. O. Olaitan as Chief Host, the Chief Medical Director, LASUTH, Prof. David Adewale Oke and the Special Adviser to the Governor for Public Health, Dr. Yewande Adesina as guests of honour.
