Talented striker from Cote D’ivore who plays professional football in Manchester City Yaya Toure was Thursday evening named the African Footballer of the year, beating Nigeria’s midfielder, Mikel Obi to the second place followed by Didier Drogba.
Stephen Keshi is Africa’s Coach of the Year
Toure’s emergence as winner did not come as a surprise to many since he was earlier on made BBC African footballer of the year after scoring the highest votes among football buffs.
Yaya Toure has scored a total of 13 goals between last year and now. Mikel Obi has scored 1 goal but was considered ahead of Drogba who has scored 7 goals due to his current form.
Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi, won African Coach of the Year.
