Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, has resigned. We learn that he resigned to forestall his possible suspension by the National Working Committee of the party.

We gathered that 36 states chairmen of the PDP passed a vote of no confidence on him during the NWC meeting held in Abuja and went ahead to inform President Goodluck Jonathan about their decision.

Sources say that one of the grouse the states chairmen have against him was his attitude towards holding meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC).

We learnt that President Goodluck Jonathan will inform the meeting of the National Caucus of the party tonight in Abuja about the development.
