Lagos State Government has flagged off activities that will culminate in the forthcoming Seafood Festival, billed to take off December 7th, 2013 in Lagos.

Speaking in Lagos, Commissioner for Agriculture and Cooperatives, Prince Gbolahan Lawal, said the maiden edition of the festival took place last year and that it witnessed over 3000 participants drawn from stakeholders in the aquaculture value chain.

Lawal revealed that this year’s festival will take place at the Bar Beach Stretch, Victoria Island and that it has been designed to further celebrate traditional delicacies in the state, network stakeholders and share knowledge and technology.

The Commissioner said that some of the objectives of the festival include the desire to stimulate investment potential of Lagos State in relation to aquaculture and artisanal fisheries; to positively impact the economy of the state in the long term and ultimately make it a major tourist attraction and destination of choice for local and international tourists.
