Lagos Night Life Returns with ‘Kakadu’ Musical Play

Driven by its desire to encourage social integration while supporting creativity and creating job opportunities, the Lagos State Ministry of Tourism and Inter-Governmental Relations played host to the award winning musical: KAKADU at the Muson Centre, in Lagos, on Friday.

Speaking at the event, Governor Babatunde Fashola said “Kakadu is the story of the people, the music, the social life and the sights and sounds of Lagos”, adding that kakadu is indeed a reflection of the diverse elements that make up Lagos in the sixties and seventies.

Reiterating his administration’s determination to support creativity while also creating job opportunities, Fashola disclosed that the talent and industry of the actors and musicians were quite commendable.

He maintained that the State Government will continue to look for ways of returning night life back to Lagos by encouraging creativity such as that of the” Playhouse initiative”.

On his own part, Commissioner for Tourism and Inter- Governmental Relations, Disun Holloway explained that in line with the administration’s resolve to make Lagos the preferred state for Leisure and Business, initiatives such as that of Kakadu will be supported by government.

Calling on others to emulate the Playhouse initiative, Holloway maintained that it will not only help reduce social tension, it will help create jobs opportunities.

Responding on behalf of the cast and crew of Kakadu, the Writer and Executive Producer, Uche Nwokedi expressed appreciation to the Lagos State Government for its support towards the successful hosting of the Musical “Kakadu”.

Kakadu captures the night life of the city of Lagos while also bringing to the fore the need to live in harmony and peace. Veteran actors like Nobert Young and Tina Mba along with young and upcoming actors are in the cast of Kakadu. Ben Ogbeiwi is the Musical Director. The award winning musical is also scheduled to perform again on 3rd, 4th and 5th of January 2014.
