Okoroji, big, latestThe Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON) has distributed the sum of N50 million to musicians in Nigeria. The money was distributed at the Annual General Meeting(AGM) of COSON in Lagos.

Speaking at the ceremony in Lagos, Chairman COSON, Chief Tony Okoroji said the board approved the money for distribution to musicians in the last quarter of 2013 adding that another round of funds will be distributed in the first quarter of 2014.

The distribution came just as COSON is entangled in a battle with Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria (BON) over their refusal to pay royalties for use of music, forcing BON and the Independent Broadcasting Association of Nigeria (IBAN) to put a blanket ban on musicians who have assigned their rights to COSON.

Some of those who attended the AGM include Chris Ajilo, Obafemi Lasode and King Waleman among other musicians.
