PUMP, COLOUR AS CHRISTY ESSIEN IGBOKWE FOUNDATION IS UNVEILED
Although, the musicians, especially, the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria(PMAN) were not well represented at the event, those who graced the occasion include, Onyeka Owenu, Chris Ajilo and Yeni Kuti, CEO Fela Museum. Nevertheless, those that attended the event had a nice time as they were trilled from the best of collection produced by the late Christy Essien Igbokwe.
All the songs were choreographed in the best of traditional attires and dance that defines the true Nigerian identity and brand. It was Nigerian dance par excellence. Not exactly the way the late singer who won the best outstanding performance award at the World Song Festival put together by Los Angeles Arts Academy in the US in 1994 would have performed it but very close.
Speaking at the event, Edwin Igbokwe, Widower of the singer said the foundation would be launched at another day adding however that it has been constituted with eminent personalities. According to him, members include Chief Abdulaeez Ude(Chairman), former Minister for Information, Prince Tony Momoh,(Vice Chairman), late Dr. Simi Johnson as General Manager, Dr. Muktar Bello(Auditor), Comfort Ponle(Treasurer), Mrs. Njedike Eziefe, Chief Austain Izagbo and Chief Helen Esuene.
He said the late musicians spoke passionately about the Half Way Home Project which he said will be home to the disadvantage and less privileged children in the society.
He said the late musician bequeathed all the money she made in her playing days as well as royalties to charity.
