Mr. Ibrahim Farinloye, an official of the agency on ground at the scene told journalists that so far only one person has been recovered alive from the plane which was said to have 22 passengers on board, heading to Akure, Ondo State, for the burial of former governor of the state, Chief Olusegun Agagu.
“We have recovered eight bodies so far, while one person who is badly injured is being taken to the hospital. The rescue operation is still on. It was a small (charter) plane operated by Associated Airlines,” Ibrahim Farinloye of the National Emergency Management Agency told reporters.
The plane was said to have developed engine failure shortly after takeoff and crash-landed killing almost everybody on board.
