The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, and the aggrieved governors of the party to take advantage of the window of opportunity provided to solve crisis bedeviling the ruling party.

Publicity Secretary of the party, Chief Olisa Metuh, said the ongoing crisis was orchestrated to paint President Goodluck Jonathan in bad light and not necessarily because the problem was insurmountable.
Metuh who said the tactics of overheating the polity is antithetical to the rule of democracy noted however that the party is familiar with the rule of engagement.
“It is important that we avoid over-stretching it and shutter not, glaring overtures to reason so as not to play into the waiting hands of the desperate, wishing to incite the people and destroy our common destiny”, he said in the statement.
According to him, the party is capable of resolving problems and called on aggrieved members to remain committed to progress of the party, noting that the PDP will emerge stronger after the crisis.
He said that the party affirms its support for the President as leader of the PDP and symbol of the party in governance.
“Our firm support for the President as leader and symbol of our party in government remains total. We shall neither waiver nor allow narrow sentiments stand in the way of the absolute resolve of our great party to better the lots of Nigerians”, he said.
