A lecturer in the Faculty of Law, University of Lagos, Dr. Abiola Sanni yesterday said that the solution to the crisis rocking Rivers State lies in revisiting the illegal sacking of the Chairman, Vice Chairman and 17 councillors of the Obio/Akpor Local Government Area without recourse to due process.

“The solution lies at going to the roots of the problem by addressing the illegal dissolution of the local government”, he said on channels, adding that the chairman, his vice and the councillors are elected representative that can only be removed through a due process.  He pointed out that the lawmakers dissolved the council only to appoint people that are seen to be loyal to the governor.

He explained that it would have been easier for the Rivers State Governor, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi to have public sympathy if the House had followed due process in removing affected individuals.

The university don added that Hon. Chidi Lloyd and his cohorts may escape being punished since they are playing the cart of the governor even though they lack immunity on issues bordering on criminality, violence and brigandage.

He also condemned what he described as a horrid motion and resolution from the House of Representative to take over legislative matters in Rivers State, stressing that to act in hurry without full knowledge of what has transpired only portrays them to be playing the cards of interested parties.

He explained that taking the over the duty of the Rivers House has dire consequence since it could precipitate a situation where the President would be forced to exercise some powers which may not be in the interest of Rotimi Amaechi, warning that only a foolish cab driver would insist on his right of ways if he sees a trailer heading his direction, knowing that he may not survive to tell the story.

He called on Amaechi to exercise caution and be wary of those who pay him courtesy call and speak in glowing terms of the crisis and that most people are benefiting from the crisis.
