Former Super Eagles midfielder, Thomson Oliha is dead. He was 44. He died. He died early Sunday morning after an attack of malaria fever.

Oliha was part of the squad that won the nation’s cup in 1994. He was said to have complained of Malaria and was taken to an undisclosed hospital in the Kwara State before he gave up.

Chairman, Sports Writers Association, Kwara State, Bunmi Adedoyin confirmed that Oliha died Sunday morning in a private hospital in Ilorin. Oliha played for Bendel Insurance (1985-1987), Iwuanyanwu Nationale (1988-1991), Africa Sports (1992-1993), Maccabi Ironi Ashdod F.C. (1993-1994) and Antalyaspor (1994-1995).

Until his death, he has been very consistent in offering constructive criticism on ways to raise the standard of play in the Super Eagles.
