LAGOS, Nigeria was today agog, as political leaders in Nigeria and outside gather at the Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos for the 8th day Fidau prayer in honour of the late Iyaloja General of Nigeria, Alhaja Abibatu Asabi Mogaji.

Leading the pack was President of Ghana, Mr. John Mahama, who was represented at the event by Ghana’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mr. Dan Abotakpi. All the state governors in the South West including, Governor of  Imo State, Mr.  Rochas Okorocha, his colleague in Edo State, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole and that of Lagos, Mr. Babatunde Fashola. Others are Governors of Osun State, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, that of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajumobi, that of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun and Africa’s riches man, Aliko Dangote.

Also in the list were former governors. They include first civilian governor of Lagos State, Alhaji Lateef Jakande, former governor of Ogun State, Chief Olusegun Osoba, former Governor of Osun State, Chief Bisi Akande, former Governor of Edo State, Chief John Oyegun, former Governor of Imo State Chief Achike Udenwa and former deputy governors. Beside these prominent Nigerians, market women from various markets in the state and beyond also paid their last respect to their departed leader.

Speaking at the event, Executive Secretary Muslim Ummar of South-West Nigeria, Professor Dawud Noibi explained that at death one is bound to regret either for deed one has done or what one ought not to have done adding that Abibatu Mogaji devoted the whole of her life to the service of mankind and Almighty Allah.

He called on Nigerians to always think about the hereafter in their actions adding that it is only those who devote their lives to the service of mankind and Allah that will be rewarded in the hereafter. The cleric was sad that Nigerians often devote themselves to the treasures of lives whereas the treasures of the hereafter are better and called on leaders to make the fear of God the basis of education bequeathed to the young ones to prevent them from growing up to become  cleaver Devils adding that the fear of Allah is the beginning of wisdom.

The Muslim Ummar said that education based on accountability to Allah should be the core of education in Nigeria and prayed for Allah to guide those leading the nation to God’s conscience adding that it is only God’s conscience that will lead Nigeria to moral rectitude. He added that only when leaders lead with God’s conscience that they will be able to secure followership and be rewarded.
