TEHRAN, Iran – The Iranian News Agency, IRNA has confirmed that two people were killed and many injured in Monday’s air strike on the Iran Broadcasting Corporation, IBC building which housed the state television and radio station.

According to the report, those killed were Nima Rajabpour, a news editor and Masoumeh Azimi who worked in the IRIB Secretariat.

There was apprehension yesterday when Israeli missiles hit the Iranian TV station, forcing the station to momentarily go off air.

The Israeli action has received widespread condemnation for the attacks.

Sarah Emami, the anchor person who was on air when the TV station was attacked said that the Israeli airstrike was targeted at ‘the women, men and children who have been martyred in recent days’

Head of the Iranian Broadcasting Corporation also spoke on the attacks:

‘The aggression against us reflects the deep impact of national media within the heart of the “israeli” media apparatus.

“Today, the determination of our people working in national media has doubled in confronting the enemy’s complex war.

“We are determined to confront the “israeli” war, and the will of Iranian journalism will not be broken”, head of Iran Broadcasting Corporation, IBC said, adding that the “israeli” attack has not—and will not—weaken the resolve of those working in national media.

“The actions of the “israeli” enemy may be new to us here in Iran, but its infamous history shows that journalists are among this enemy’s targets… What weapon do we have other than the news bulletin?”.
