OJODU, Lagos, Nigeria – A total of 18 students were injured in the truck accident at Ojodu Grammar School, Chairman Ojodu Local Council Development Area, LCDA, Mr David Olusegun Odunmbaku has confirmed.

Besides those who are dead, 12 of the students are from Babs Fafunwa Millennium Secondary School, Ojodu. The names of the students are Oladimeji Nimotallahi, female, SS2E; Odubote Olamide, Female, SS1B,  Ogunseye Christiana, female, SS1A; Ogunseye Ayinla Bose, female, SS3, Bamgbose Daniel, male, SS1G, Amusan Nofisat,  female, SS2B,  Aduragbemi Akinsoye, male, SS1E, Bassey Saviour, Olanrewaju Ajibade, male SS1, and Wisdom Ezejiofor Wisdom male, SS3, Qudus Kassim, male SS2,  Ajere Sophia, female, SS1.

Two students are from Omole Grammar School. They are Adeboyejo Aliyah, female, JS2A, Akinwunmi Ekahanta,male, JSS1.  There is only one student from Ojodu Junior High School. He is Amusan Abdulqoweeh, JS2A.

Besides, these, there are three other students whose school have not been identified. They include Goodluck Nfunsio, Pelumi Makinde and Abigael Aghigbe.

Odunmbaku who gave his update after the visit to the hospitals, where the  injured students are being  treated said three of them were discharged and  moved some to Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) and LASUTH annex at Gbagada for further checks and treatment.

“For those that were transferred to LASUTH, they are all in stable condition.  We only have one left at God’s Apple Hospital, all others have been discharged and by tomorrow we’ll give an update on those that were discharged. Also, two other students have been treated and discharged.

“At LASUTH, we have four inpatients and one outpatient. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of them”, he said.

“We also met with the parents of the deceased, we’ll continue to offer them our prayers, and we are in constant contact with the families.

“Those three in LASUTH annex at Gbagada are going through normal checks, X-ray scans and others.  We still have five at Lagos State Accident and Emergency Hospital. We are hopeful that all the remaining students under observation would be discharged soon.

“While thanking God for the recuperation of the future leaders, we implore all drivers to be mindful of other road users and pedestrians by driving carefully”, he said.
