At least 17 people were killed on Tuesday when an improvised explosive devices (IEDs) ripped through one of the very busy markets in Maiduguri, Borno State.

Police Commissioner in Borno, Mr. Lawan Tanko said at least 17 people have been killed.

“From our preliminary reports, we have 17 dead and at least five injured from the blast in the post office area” of the city, Police Commissioner, Lawan Tanko said, warning that the figure could rise.

The violence is taking place just as many were thinking that Nigeria is in the process of putting the Boko Haram incident behind.
