LEKKI, Lagos – Nigerians today reacted to Xenophobic attacks by invading South African businesses in Lagos . On target were shopping malls owned by Shoprite in Jakande and Sangotedo.

Nigerians reacted following resurgence of attacks on Nigerians in South Africa two days ago, when their businesses were set alight.

The aggrieved Nigerian invaded the malls, pulling down racks, forcing some of the malls and and other South African ventures to shut down operation.

At Jakande, some of the angry youths forced their way into the compound, while some other groups were stopped by police from forcing their ways into the mall. In the ensuring melee, one person was shut dead, forcing the angry youths to go on rampage.

In the process, a police van was torched by the youths. So far, the police have mobilised to shopping malls owned by South Africans in Nigeria as part of effort to stop the attacks.
