strong>WASHINGTON, United States – President Donald Trump of the United States has hailed Jerry Jones, owner of Dallas Cowboys for backing his hard stance that players in the National Football League, NFL must learn to respect the flag by standing up for the national anthem.
Jones has made it clear over the last two days that he will bench players who choose to “disrespect the flag” during the national anthem.
In making his stance known, Jones referred to a policy included in the NFL’s game operations manual, stressing that he will bench players who disrespect the flag.
Jones made the revelation Sunday night after the loss of Cowboys to the Green Bay Packers, following the departure of Vice President Mike Pence from the 49ers-Colts game in protest when San Francisco players knelt during the anthem.
Reacting to Jones’ stance, Trump tweeted, “A big salute to Jery Jones, owner of Dallas Cowboys, who will bench players who disrespect our flag, stand for anthem or sit for game'”, he said.
