EJIGBO, Lagos, Nigeria – An Ejigbo political group, The Asiwaju Progressive Minds has called on the national leader of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to prevail on chairman of the Lagos State chapter, Otunba Henry Ajomale and prevent him from imposing his godson, Dr Olatunde Olusunmade on party members.

In a letter addressed to the Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, Publicity Secretary of the group, Arinola Gbadebo said APC lost in the last election due to similar imposition in the area, warning that such a development could make APC to lose the election.

“We call on Our Father and National Leader not to allow the Lagos APC Chairman, Chief Henry Ajomale, to install his stooge and anointed aspirant, Dr Olatunde Olusunmade, who belongs to his unpopular and thoughtlessly created political group ( The Crusader) as his adoption as APC candidate would further polarize the party in the local government and the constituency as a whole.

“We learnt that Ajomale wants to force his godson ( Dr Olatunde Olusunmade) on us as the APC Candidate in the coming local government election, well, we want our National leader to stop him from doing so because this would make us lose the election as it happened in 2015 general elections.

“In 2015 general elections, it was the same Lagos APC Chairman that forced his son ( Ladi Ajomale) and ( Hon. Hakeem Muniru) on us as candidates for House of Assembly and House of Representatives respectively and with this act we lost the two sensitive positions to the PDP because the aggrieved party members who belonged to other caucuses worked against the two candidates who were from Ajomale’s political camp ( The Crusader).

“We don’t want such to repeat itself again as he is planning to impose another person as Chairmanship candidate from same caucus (The Crusader) that produced the last two candidates. This is not acceptable.

“We are also aware that, Chief Ajomole has chosen to impose this man as his retirement benefit. This is very absurd and totally unacceptable to the people of Ejigbo. We had expected him to work in the civil service to enable him have retirement benefit. We like to point out that, Chief Ajomole does not leave in Ejigbo and should not interfere in the affairs of Ejigbo politics. As a matter of fact, Chief Ajomole lost in his poling unit and ward in Isolo where he is based just like the former Chairman, Kehinde Bamigbetan lost in his unit and ward too. These people are not in position to present candidates for elective positions as they have credibility issues in the community. Good people of Ejigbo will continue to say no to candidates from these people, just as it happened in 2015.

“We agree with the decision of the party on consensus candidate to avoid rancor and violence. We are using this medium to call on the party to use any of the neutral aspirants who do not belong to any caucus in the local council so that such aspirant would be a unifying factor after the election.

“Also, we will want Governor Ambode to warn his Special Adviser on Communications and Communities, Mr Kehinde Bamigbetan, not to put the LCDA into flame as we learnt he has positioned people to protest against any consensus candidate of the party that is not from his group ( Mandate 2). Ejigbo is a non violent LCDA which we will want it to continue to be”, the group said.

His Excellency,
Akinwunmi Ambode Executive Governor of Lagos State,
Office of the ExecutiveGovernor,
Lagos State Government House,
Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos.
Your Excellency Sir,

“No To Ajomale imposition of Candidate”

We, the members of Asiwaju Progressive Minds (APM), in Ejigbo LCDA, Lagos State, commend the National Leader of All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for the decision to allow the 18 first term local government Chairmen to run automatic ticket in the coming local government election in the state, while we want him to caution the State Chairman, Chief Henry Ajomale, not to impose his anointed aspirant in person of Dr Olatunde Olusunmade on us in our Ejigbo LCDA as he selfishly and erroneously did in the last general elections.

Through the decision, Tinubu has displayed great political understanding which makes him outstanding among various political leaders that exist in the country. The decision would continue to make party loyalists to respect subsequent decisions of the party.

With the decision, the 18 first term chairmen would have free hand to stabilize their local government in terms of infrastructural development and establish great support for Governor Ambode’s policies in the State.

We call on Our Father and National Leader not to allow the Lagos APC Chairman, Chief Henry Ajomale, to install his stooge and anointed aspirant, Dr Olatunde Olusunmade, who belongs to his unpopular and thoughtlessly created political group ( The Crusader) as his adoption as APC candidate would further polarize the party in the local government and the constituency as a whole.
