LOS ANGELES – American actress and producer, Carrier Fisher best known for playing Princess Leia Organa in Star Wars is dead. She died after a bout of cardiac arrest in a hospital. She was 60.

In a statement, family spokesman Simon Halls said she died at 8:55 am today. She is survived by daughter Billie Lourd.




“It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning.
“She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly. Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers,” she said in the statement.

Fisher suffered cardiac arrest while flying from London to Los Angeles on Friday, December. 23, 2016. Paramedics were said to have removed her from the flight and rushed her to a nearby hospital, where she was treated for a heart attack. She was said to have later died in the hospital.

Born October 21, 1956, Fisher got married to musician Paul Simon in 1983 in what has been described as an explosive marriage but they divorced in 1984.


She also featured in Screams and a comedy, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. She also co-wrote, These Old Broads, a comedy film on television, and Drop Dead Fred.

She also wrote several novels, among which are Surrender the Pink, Delusions of Grandma. She also wrote scripts for major films among which are Hook, Sister Act, Made in America, Last Action and a host of others.
