LAGOS, Nigeria – The excitement was over-powering, the music was intoxicating, the food was good and the atmosphere simply electrifying. On Wednesday, November 1, Day 4 of the much advertised COSON Week, the COSON Green Ball at MUSON Centre in Lagos was everything it was advertised to be and a lot more!

It is arguable whether MUSON Centre had ever witnessed such an amazing show. Chief Tony Okoroji, the Chairman of COSON and event master producer got it absolutely right. He put together a show that will not be forgotten in a long-long time. With the infectious atmosphere, Nigeria’s glitterati and nation’s crème de la crème, threw caution to the wind. They danced and let go all over the hall in a powerful night of pure ecstasy as paparazzi fought paparazzi for vantage positions to document the amazing moment for all times.

As you landed the foyer of MUSON Centre, you knew immediately that it would be an evening like no other. The venue had been transformed in a wave of different shades of green with the deep green carpet bidding you welcome to an amazing evening. There was jaw dropping fashion after jaw dropping fashion on the green carpet. Everywhere, flashlights exploded!

From the show’s pre-produced special introduction on the big LCD Screen tucked into a magnificent stage, to the national anthem in style and the special prayers in honour of the Nigerian nation, no one needed to be told that every detail of the show had been thought out and intricately woven and rehearsed.

What was not rehearsed was the massive reaction of the audience to the inspired performance of Dolzi, the King of Melody, KASI, the power bike riding June 12 Girl or the amazing Xplicit Dancers from Ibadan or the hilarious wise cracks of Koffi Da Guru. When Ras Kimono came on stage, everyone lost control and there was non-stop gyration in the auditorium. Shina Peters is a well-known great performer but at the COSON Green Ball, Shina Peters took showmanship to another level. The audience ate out of his hands as the sang along and danced the night away with him.

Not even Senator Ademola Adeleke, father of B Red, who represented the Senate President Bukola Saraki, was left out of the excitement. He joined the likes of Senator Florence Ita-Giwa; Nite shift Governor, Ken Calebs Olumese, Biscon Communication founder, Bisi Olatilo; Airtel Director, Emeka Opara; NTDC DG, Folorunsho Coker who represented Minister of Information & Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed; Professor Emeritus, Egerton Uvieghara; firebrand lawyer, Rockson Igelige among many others to rock the night away.

In his speech, the Senate President was effusive with praise for the work done by COSON and its Chairman, Chief Tony Okoroji to ensure that Nigerian artistes are protected from the abuse of their rights. He assured the members of COSON of the continued support of the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Even after the vote of thanks by Chief Tony Okoroji, the COSON Green Ball was still buzzing. No one appeared to be in a hurry to walk from a show never to be forgotten.
