ABUJA, Nigeria – Acting President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo on Monday signed the 2017 budget of N7.441 trillion. He is said to have signed it on the orders of President Muhammadu Buhari.





He signed the budget at 4.41pm had in Abuja.

Osinbajo was joined at the signing ceremony by Senate President Bukola Saraki, Speaker of the House of Representatives Yakubu Dogara, deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremamdu, principal officers of the National Assembly, chief of staff to the president Mr. Abba Kyari, deputy chief of staff staff Ade Ikpaye, head of the civil service of the federation Winifired Oyo-Ita, ministers, acting secretary to the government of the federation, Habiba Lawal, key aides of the president and acting president among others.

Garba Shehu senior special assistant, media and publicity, said President Buhari gave Osinbajo the go ahead to sign the budget “in the interest of the nation’s economy”.

Shehu said Buhari also “In a letter dated June 10, 2017, which he personally signed and addressed to the Minister of Budget and National Planning, Senator Udoma Udo Udoma, the President also said he was pleased by the joint resolution that the Executive would submit next year’s budget proposals by October 2017 and the National Assembly will conclude the Appropriation process by December 2017, so that the country can return to a normal fiscal period from next year onwards.”
