SURULERE, Lagos, Nigeria – The semi-finals of the GTBank-Lagos State Principals Cup (Season 8) at Onikan Stadium on Wednesday 24th May 2017 produced a thrilling display of stunning football skills from highly talented young players.
Leading the highlights of the day was the scintillating performance of the player of the day, Aliyat Saheed, an eleven-year old JSS 1 student of Isale Eko Grammar School, Lagos Island who scored the deciding goal of the female game, taking her team to the finals.
In the female category, Sanya Senior Grammar School, Surulere beat Government Senior College, Agege 5-3 on agregate to move into the finals, while Isale Eko Grammar School, Lagos Island beat Ikorodu Senior High School, Ikorodu 2-1 to set up the female final between Sanya Senior Grammar School, Surulere versus Isale Eko Grammar School, Lagos Island.
In the male category, Ijaiye Housing Estate Senior Grammar School, Ojokoro beat Odogunyan Senior Grammar School, Ikorodu 2-0, while Ikotun Senior High School, Ikotun beat Muslim Senior College, Oworonshoki 3-4 on agregate to set up male final between Ijaiye Housing Estate Senior Grammar School, Ojokoro versus Ikotun Senior High School, Ikotun.
The teams playing in the finals, holding on Tuesday 30th May at Teslim Stadium, Surulere are; Sanya Senior Grammar School, Surulere and Isale Eko Grammar School, Lagos Island in the female category.
In the male category, Ijaiye Housing Estate Senior Grammar School, Ojokoro will take on Ikotun Senior High School, Ikotun.
Will the male team of Ikotun Senior High school win the champions ticket just like their female counterparts did last season? We will know on Tuesday at the Teslim Stadium.
