The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on Nigerians to use the month of Ramadan to pray for unity and well being of the country.

Acting Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr. Tony Okeke, who made the plea in his goodwill message to Nigerians called on Muslims and Nigerians in general to use the occasion of fasting to reflect on the Islamic teachings of love, peace, forgiveness and piety adding that the nation cannot make any progress unless the citizens imbibe and live by such qualities.

He called on Nigerians to shun all acts of bitterness towards one another, which he said promotes violence, terrorism and hamper economic and social development.

While calling on Nigerians to be their brothers’ keepers irrespective of religion, tribe and political leanings, the party charged leaders at all levels to  re-dedicate themselves to the service of the people and shun all forms of corruption since the Almighty God will require all to give account of stewardship at the end of the day. This, he said is essential  in the spirit of the Ramadan.
