LAGOS, Nigeria – President Muhammadu Buhari has come under severe criticism following his appointment of at least three dead men in the list of about 200 people for board appointments.

In the statement announcing the appointees, the President listed Late Senator Francis Okpozo as Chairman Nigerian Press Council, (NPC).

Buhari also appointed Benue Born catholic priests, Late Rev Father Christopher Utov as Board member, Nigeria Institute of Social Research, and Late Deputy Inspector General of Police, DIG Donald Ugbaja as member Nigeria Protection Council, NPC.

But the appointment has brought President Buhari and his cabinet into public ridicule with many attributing the development to gross incompetence.

Former Minister of Aviation, Mr. Femi Fani-Kayode called it a government of corpsocracy – rulership of the living by the dead.
“It is called corpsocracy: the rulership of the living by the dead. And President “walking dead” Buhari is its Chief Priest and primary advocate and promoter”, he said on the social media.

On Facebook the reaction was also diverse, Cletus called it “Operation appointment of dead people”, another called it, “Wonderful government”, while many said they are simply speechless.

But for Augustine Uwandu, it is pure incompetence at play :”The incompetence of this government is unprecedented, see the group of people 150 million Nigerians mortgaged their future for. May Nigeria succede”,he said.

Frank Ndubuaku, puts it this way, “the more you look, the more you see, Nigeria we hail thee”, he said, but Akin Amulukwu said it is a matter of the quality of people at the helms.

“It speaks volume of the quality of people calling the shots in government”, he said. For Tamara Ogoba: “It is quite unfortunate that this where we ended up”, he said, while Alex Jalin sums it up this way, “Nigeria a company of contemporaries”.
Still reacting to the development, Emenike Christopher said, “this is the true definition of Ghost workers”, while Ajah George said it is simply “change government”.

Anayo, another commentator looks at the development comically. According to him, “appointing some dead persons to board proves that FG does not discriminate between the living and the dead. It is fairness”, he said.
