YENEGOA, Bayelsa, Nigeria – The Bayelsa State government has called on civil servants in the state especially those at the Local Government level to support the ongoing reforms instituted by Governor Henry Seriake Dickson that is aimed at sanitizing the system and reposition it for efficiency and greater productivity.

The State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Daniel Iworiso-Markson, who made the plea on Monday in Yenagoa, said the call became imperative because of the need to remind the workers of the importance of reforms‎.

He said because of the sincerity of government, it included members of the organized labour in the state as members of the public reforms committee so that issues concerning the public service can be holistically addressed.

The Commissioner therefore appealed to all striking workers in the LGAs to call off their strike and return to their duty post to help government tackle the viral ‘Monkeypox’‎ that is currently in the state.

Iworiso-Markson further appeal to the workers to allow the government handle some of the complains that led to their industrial action which is contained in the reforms that will soon be announced by Gov. Dickson.

The Bayelsa Government spokesman maintained that with the help of the workers, particularly those at the local government level the ‘Monkeypox’ disease will soon be a thing of the past, so it is imperative they suspend their strike.
