WESTMINSTER, London – A man by name, John Wombell has been jailed for making an offensive phone call to the office of a Member of Parliament.





John Wombell, 58 of Cherry Orchard, West Drayton, Hillingdon was charged with one count of sending a message that was grossly offensive or of an indecent, obscene or menacing nature character, contrary to section 127 of the Communications Act 2003.

Officers from the MPS arrested Wombell on 8 February 2017, following an investigation into an offensive phone call made to the office of an MP on 13 November 2016.

He was subsequently charged on 26 March 2017 with the offence as above and appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court yesterday, Monday 24 April, where he pleaded guilty.

He was sentenced to eight weeks’ imprisonment and issued with a restraining order.
